Evans said: "I was denied the opportunity to go to Athens but I wasn't denied the opportunity to come to England.
"In Liverpool I'll gain Olympic revenge and history will be made.
"I know you love Amir over here and I know I'm against all the odds. But I'll overcome those odds. I shall excel and I shall prevail."
Evans has an impressive record of 96 wins from 109 fights. Alex Arthur, the tough Scot who later turned professional and became British super-featherweight champion, was one Evans victim, at the 1998 Goodwill Games.
But Khan remains confident. "I don't know anything about Evans," he said.
"But I'm sure I'll find out all I need to know in the first round."
