Kezman's ban fear

The new Chelsea striker, dismissed for violent conduct, could be banned for three games as under FIFA rules, red cards picked up during the competition must be applied to domestic matches.

Dacourt's late challenge on Kezman's team-mate Arjen Robben sparked the punch-up during the match in Pittsburgh. Robben injured his ankle but will not miss the start of the season.

Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger has accused Chelsea of destroying competition in the transfer market with their huge budget for players. The £20million signing of Ricardo Carvalho took Chelsea's outlay to more than £89m this summer and nearly £220m since Roman Abramovich's takeover.

Arsenal manager Wenger said: "Who can compete with Chelsea? They go out first and buy what they want, then everyone else comes in, so it's very difficult to compete. In some ways they have destroyed the market - they can say yes to what they want to say yes to. It has somewhat destabilised the whole market."

Arsenal play River Plate in the Amsterdam Tournament tonight when they will be without the injured trio of Thierry Henry (Achilles), Patrick Vieira (thigh) and Sol Campbell (Achilles).

Wenger fears they may not be fit for the start of the season on 15 August. He said: "We could be missing all three players (against Everton)."
