Kent in battle to reach final

Kent had a dreadful time in the field at Taunton today as C&G Trophy holders Somerset made 324 for four off 49 overs.

Skipper Matthew Fleming put Somerset in and expected some help from a damp pitch in their semi-final but instead indifferent bowling and sloppy fielding allowed openers Jamie Cox (31) and Peter Bowler (70) to get away to a flyer.

And when England one-day candidate Ian Blackwell lashed 86 off 53 balls with partner Mike Burns making 72 the visitors faced a battle to reach the final.

In the other semi-final at Headingley, Surrey were frustrated as rain postponed their tie again against Yorkshire until tomorrow.
