Keegan wants to bow out a winner

Kevin Keegan has given himself two years to win 'something worth winning' before he turns his back on Manchester City and football for good.

Having come under heavy fire during a difficult campaign, the former England coach is now determined to quit the game at the end of his contract. Not even this resounding finale, albeit against a

team whose minds were already at the beach, could deter Keegan from underlining his intention of taking early retirement.

He said: 'Nothing will tempt me back and I mean absolutely nothing. I'm not Fergie, as you know. Five years is a long time with a club for me, but I do look forward to the two I've got left.

'I want to give it my best shot. I won the Second Division with Fulham, the First Division twice with City and Newcastle, but never anything worth winning.'

Everton boss David Moyes looked drained as goals from Paulo Wanchope (2), Nicolas Anelka, Antoine Sibierski and Shaun Wright-Phillips endorsed Everton's worst season on paper since 1889, with only a Kevin Campbell reply for consolation. Wayne Rooney's flat end to the season did nothing for England's Euro 2004 hopes.
