Jose backs down over Frisk affair

Jose Mourinho has hinted he lied to UEFA when claiming he saw Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard enter the referee's dressing room during Chelsea's visit to the Nou Camp last month.

European football's governing body hit the Blues with disrepute charges after Mourinho accused Rijkaard of speaking to official Anders Frisk at half-time in the first leg of their Champions League clash.

UEFA specifically cited Mourinho, his assistant Steve Clarke and security man Les Miles.

But the Chelsea boss indicated his claims of actually seeing the incident were false, saying: 'If something happens in the stadium and I don't see, and if some of my people arrive and tell me: "I saw this, this happened", and then the other one comes and says: "I saw the same" I say it's true because I cannot work without loyalty, I must believe my people.'

Mourinho did not refer to the incident directly but admitted: 'I'm not perfect. I have a lot of bad qualities but the people who work with me know I am very loyal so I have to stand with my people.'

The 42-year-old from Portugal also ruled out following Swede Sven-Goran Eriksson as a foreign coach of England.

He insisted: 'It's not for me. The England job is in good hands and when Sven goes, I believe it's a job for an Englishman.'
