Jordan says sorry for outburst

Simon Jordan has apologised to David Gill and David Dein for his rant against the men running football.

The Crystal Palace chairman has phoned Manchester United chief executive Gill and Arsenal vice-chairman Dein to say sorry after launching an attack on boardroom protocol two weeks ago.

Their clubs were singled out in a foulmouthed outburst in which Jordan branded agents "nasty scum".

But he claims his comments about Arsenal and United were taken out of context because the compliments he paid them were cut from the article in a Sunday newspaper.

Jordan - whose side travel to Manchester United for a Premiership clash on Saturday - was quoted as having said: "I don't give a f*** about football protocol and the other club owners.

"They want me to sit and have lunch before the games. F*** that. I don't go to football to drink Chardonnay in the boardrooms with those tossers.

"I don't have anything in common with 90 per cent of football club chairmen. They don't interest me. I'm no respecter of tradition and I have no time for the Manchester Uniteds and Arsenals of this world.

"There's nothing to admire in these clubs. They're just bullshit worlds full of bullshit people." The Palace chairman had not intended to insult Old Trafford and Highbury executives, and a friend has revealed to Standard Sport that Jordan has phoned Gill and Dein to put the record straight.
