Jones facing send-off rap

Simon Jones will plead "over-excitement" today if he is ordered to appear before a disciplinary hearing after the Second Test against West Indies.

Jones was the bowling hero as England moved to within touching distance of victory and an unbeatable 2-0 series lead.

But his best ever figures of five for 57 were spoiled somewhat by an over-heated celebration following the dismissal of Ramnaresh Sarwan, which earned a rebuke from umpires Billy Bowden and Daryl Harper and will probably result in an appearance before match referee Mike Procter.

Jones had already removed openers Chris Gayle and Devon Smith when he won a tight lbw decision against Sarwan to put West Indies on the road to 209 all out.

The 25-year-old Glamorgan paceman responded with a clenched fist salute almost under Sarwan's nose and he appeared to say something in the batsman's direction.

International Cricket Council rules specifically prohibit bowlers from giving their victims a 'send-off' and punishments for misconduct range from fines to suspensions, depending on the seriousness of the offence.
