Jones facing global shame

The head of the World Anti Doping Agency today warned Marion Jones that she faced being shunned from the global sports spotlight if she is found to have lied about using drugs.

WADA chief Dick Pound added that she could be stripped of the three gold medals she won at Sydney four years ago if it is proven she was doping at the time.

"If she's innocent, she comes here and that's fine," said Pound. "And if she's not and comes here and has made all those statements (about her innocence), it's going to be a dark and deep hole into which she goes. If I were her lawyer, I would be trying to convince USADA there was no case. And I would not be calling it a kangaroo court."

Jones is under investigation by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, but has not been charged. She has vehemently denied using any banned substance.
