Jol wants his own Duff

Martin Jol is looking to sign Tottenham's answer to Ryan Giggs or Damien Duff.

The Spurs head coach says a new winger is the priority during this month's transfer window, but he is also seeking a fourth-choice striker.

One option could involve buying a single player - with similar qualities to Manchester United's Giggs or Chelsea's Duff - who can cover both positions.

The Dutchman said: "It's very important to have quality strikers, especially now Fredi Kanoute is injured.

"That is why I have said before that maybe we could do with a fourth striker. We have also been looking for a wide player since the start of the season, so maybe if we can get a wide player who can play off the striker then the problem is solved."

Kanoute missed the 2-1 FA Cup victory over Brighton with a hamstring injury, so Jol had little choice but to pair Robbie Keane with Jermain Defoe.

Keane made the most of his opportunity, scoring his 100th goal at club level with a secondhalf winner to put Spurs into the fourth round where they will meet West Bromwich. It is a tie that will see Jol return to the club that signed him as a player in 1981 as a replacement for Bryan Robson.

Spurs sporting director Frank Arnesen said: "It's a big draw.

The fact that it's Martin's ex-club and an all-Premiership tie makes it one of the biggest draws of the round.
