"It has often been like banging my head against a brick wall trying to get into the England back row on a regular basis," added Worsley. "I have been trying for more than four years now.
"But it looks as if the three of them won't be around for the 2007 World Cup, so it's up to me to become one of the senior players by then.
"As for the immediate future, however, it will be as ever a case of concentrating on the short term. It's the oldest cliche, but one game at a time is all you can do.
"With England it truly has been a case of picking the best side all along - regardless of age or promise or things like that.
"That's exactly how it happened. Now we've won the World Cup, we know that focusing each time on the short term - and not looking at the very big hurdle at the end of the race - works. That way, you don't trip over the early hurdles."
At their own request, Worsley, Simon Shaw and Stuart Abbott have gone straight into the team at Newcastle in the Zurich Premiership tomorrow - as has returning Scotland wing Kenny Logan.
Dallaglio and Josh Lewsey, who played in Sydney last Saturday, are rested, although club captain Dallaglio is travelling. "It's important I get back involved with Wasps as soon as possible," he said.
Warren Gatland, Wasps' director of rugby, hopes to pick a fullstrength side for the first time this season in next Sunday's big Heineken Cup clash with last season's beaten finalists Perpignan.
Gatland said: " We always wanted to be in the Premiership's top three by the time the internat ional guys returned, so it's satisfying we've achieved that.
"We now want to qualify from a very tough Heineken Cup group. If we don't do that it will be very disappointing."
