Jens content for his wife to do all the celebrating

Jens Lehmann adopted a low-key approach to celebrating Arsenal's FA Cup triumph, leaving his wife to buy the papers to read all about his penalty shoot-out success.

The 35-year-old German keeper refused to break his golden rule of buying newspapers the day after a game, even though he was being feted. It was his wife, Connie, who went down to the local newsagents for a souvenir of his match-winning display.

Lehmann said: "I never read the papers that much and I didn't buy any yesterday, my wife did. She bought them because my parents are coming over from Germany this week and my father has kept a record of articles over the years.

"Why don't I get them? Because in my experience sometimes it cuts me up, it upsets me. Ninety per cent is opinion and when you reach a certain level, people want to pull you down."

Lehmann's errors in the Champions League and subsequent axing by manager Arsene Wenger only made him more determined to bounce back - something Paul Scholes found out when his penalty was excellently saved on Saturday.

Lehmann said: "I was disappointed to be dropped but my attitude was to battle to get my place back. I like to fight and I like to win.
