Jason eager to win name game

A man called Harrison will lift club cricket's biggest prize at The Oval this weekend.

Teddington, captained by Tom Harrison, take on High Wycombe, led by Jason Harrison, in Sunday's final of the £12,000 Evening Standard Challenge Trophy - the 50-over tournament which features the London region's top 112 teams.

The Harrisons are not related but they are both 30 and both played county cricket - Tom was with Derbyshire and Jason had six years on the Middlesex staff.

They have something else in common: their teams are both chasing the second leg of a notable League and Cup double.

Teddington, Challenge Trophy winners in 1992, 1996 and 1998, are runaway Middlesex League champions with a record points total while Wycombe have won the Home Counties League.

Wycombe will prepare for Sunday by playing Beaconsfield in the Bucks Cup Final tomorrow.

Captain of the Buckinghamshire side, Jason Harrison said: "It should be an ideal warm-up but we know Sunday is the big one, it's a huge day for our club.

"We have done our homework on Teddington, their record speaks for itself and demands respect, but we won't be overawed. I am very confident."

Wycombe, semi-finalists in last year's National Knockout Cup, include Greg Pooley and Mark Wright, who won Challenge Trophy winners' medals with Finchley at The Oval two years ago.
