Jarvis issues warning over Sabbeeh

Newmarket trainer Michael Jarvis has warned that due to the continuing dry spell, his highly-regarded twoyearold Sabbeeh may well miss a clash with Three Valleys, Snow Ridge and Lucky Story in Saturday's Darley Dewhurst Stakes.

Jarvis said: "Sabbeeh was very impressive on his first start at Ripon and again at Doncaster last month, but he ran poorly on fast ground in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot and the weather is a big worry for him.

"We have alternative options for him in the Horris Hill Stakes at Newbury and the Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster next week and, as the ground is still very fast at Newmarket, I'd have to say that he's a doubtful runner in the Dewhurst." Stablemate, Rakti, who 12 months ago was sent home in disgrace, will bid to rectify matters when he takes on Alamshar and Nayef in the Emirates Airline Champion Stakes.

The Polish Precedent colt was trained by Bruno Grizzetti in Italy when he refused point blank to enter the stalls in the corresponding race last year but is now based with Jarvis, just a five-minute walk from the Rowley Mile.

And despite being written off among the 16-1 shots by most bookmakers, Jarvis feels that Rakti has plenty going for him as he returns from a break in Saturday's £400,000 contest.

He said: "At this stage Rakti is a definite runner in the Champion. He ran a great race to chase home Nayef in the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot but came back with an injury.
