Jamie joins up with dad

Jamie Redknapp has left Tottenham for Southampton despite the offer of a coaching job at White Hart Lane.

The 31-year-old today became his father Harry's first major signing since taking over the Saints last month.

The midfielder has signed a six-month deal, with an extension option at the end of the season, after successfully undergoing a medical.

As the transfer was completed before noon Redknapp can play in tomorrow's home match against Fulham.

"I'm so excited about this. It is a great club to come to and a big challenge for me," Redknapp said today.

"The fact I am helping my dad out does come into it a little bit but the main thing for me is to be playing again.
