It's crunch time for the Broncos

London Broncos have come a long way in the last 20 years, if only while travelling between seven different home grounds, and tonight's trip to Leeds could be their biggest test yet.

With two Super League games to go, the Broncos are within touching distance of the play-offs for the first time but they must win them both to make sure of a top six finish. Castleford Tigers and Widnes Vikings, who meet on Sunday, are also in the shake-up but London control their own destiny.

Understanding Super League's complex play-off series requires a degree in applied mathematics. One thing is certain, though. Reaching the post-season showdown would rank alongside the 1999 Wembley trip as the club's finest hour.

"This is the best squad I've had," said coach Tony Rea, who has been at the club in various guises since arriving as captain in 1994. "I respected the abilities of other squads I've had and wouldn't want to take away from their achievements.

"But this squad is doing all that could be asked of them at the moment. They're really strong in the way they approach the game, have a lot of character and fight and a bit of ability. We're very proud of them."

The Broncos will need all that strength in the Rhinos' cage at Headingley. Leeds have already beaten them twice this season, subjecting them to a 48-6 rout in the season's opening game, and a win would secure their own play-off place.
