I'll watch on telly, says Jose

Jose Mourinho will watch Chelsea's Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich on television rather than in the stands at Stamford Bridge.

The Chelsea coach is serving a two-match touchline ban following criticisms of referee Anders Frisk and has now opted to watch the match at a secret location away from the spotlight.

Chelsea's assistant manager Baltemar Brito, who will take charge of the team along with Steve Clarke, today revealed: "Jose will be in a private place on his own, a very peaceful place, to watch the game with no contact with any of his staff. He will not be at the stadium and will watch the game on television. This is his decision."

Mourinho is banned from any contact with his players from the moment they arrive at Stamford Bridge tomorrow and has no plans to get round the UEFA ban.

During his previous touchline ban, Mourinho famously used a sophisticated communications device to contact his staff during a UEFA Cup semi-final between Lazio and Porto two years ago, but Brito insisted there was no plan to repeat such trickery.

He said: "We work closely with the players during the week so there's no need for that special trick. I do not take my phone to the bench. Two hours before the game I switch it off. It will be the same as when Jose is there, there will not be much difference. I've known him for quite a while and worked with him for four years so know him very well. I know his way of thinking is spot on.
