SportHow £50m could get you a nice little CottageRaoul Simons|Evening Standard14 April 2012Mohamed Fayed is understood to value Craven Cottage at around £50million. In 2002 he sold a £15m option to buy Fulham's home since 1896 to property developer Nick Sutton. Then the deal for the ground, which is in a prime west London location, was estimated to be worth £50m. After Fulham failed to find an alternative home in west London, Fayed made a U-turn and agreed to fund a smallscale refurbishment of the Cottage to bring it up to Premiership standards. The club spent £5.4m on refurbishments to create a 22,000 all-seater stadium. New roofs were built and seats installed on the old terraces. The club also invested in executive boxes and corporate facilities. After spending two years groundsharing with QPR, Fulham made an emotional return to the Cottage in August. Fayed said: "I have not committed to Craven Cottage as our permanent home but nor have I ruled it out." Speaking to Standard Sport in July, Fayed also said: "This is a growing and developing club. We must not limit our ambitions. Who knows what may happen?" MORE ABOUTInvestmentLoftus Road StadiumOlympic StadiumPropertySuttonWest London
