How key venues are shaping up

INDOOR HALL: Will stage basketball, gymnastics and trampolining. Renovation on target for 30 June.

AQUATIC CENTRE: In the same complex as Olympic Stadium. The outdoor pools are ready but organisers have had to scrap plans for a roof.

VELODROME: Renovated from 1980s-built structure. Should be finished with time to spare.

OLYMPIC METRO STATION: Only the skeleton has been completed so far but on target for 30 June.

WARM-UP TRACKS: Central grass area has been laid but neither track has been laid down.

TENNIS CENTRE: Courts have been relaid from original 1980s complex. Like the Olympic Stadium, not much landscaping work done.

GOUDI OLYMPIC COMPLEX: Modern pentathlon and badminton venue well on the way to being finished although badminton test hit by air-conditioning failure.

HOCKEY VENUE: Finished at the old airport site but access roads and surrounding landscapes need work.

MARATHON ROUTE: Starts at the village of Marathon, 42kms from central Athens. Due to be finished by end of June but project to widen the original Marathon route ran into delays when contractors were unable to pay wages. New deadlines are extremely tight.

PERISTERI BOXING HALL: 80 per cent finished.

SCHINIAS ROWING CENTRE: Finished after controversy as organisers battled conservationists and archaeologists.

OLYMPIC VILLAGE: Base for 20,000 athletes, coaches and officials finished but greening project not done yet.
