Home comforts are not enough for Arsene...

Arsene Wenger identified the big difference between his side and runaway Premiership leaders Manchester United - Arsenal's mediocre away form.

Wenger said: "The difference this season is that United are better away from home than we are. If you make a table from the home games, we would be nearly matching them. But if you look in the away games, the table shows us low down".

Wenger's side are at Fortress Highbury tomorrow when they face Harry Redknapp's West Ham.

Arsenal are unbeaten at Highbury this season and have drawn only three of their 14 matches at Highbury. If the table was based on home form alone, Wenger's side would be within one point of United instead of 16 behind them in the real table.

All the London teams have contrasting home and away form. West Ham have won as many matches away from Upton Park as at home and if the table were done on away results, Redknapp's side would be in fourth place and heading for Europe.

Charlton are much stronger at home (winning nine games and losing only to Sunderland) but the most striking examples of the difference in away and home form is at Tottenham and Chelsea - both of whom would be heading for relegation if they were judged on away results alone.

Tottenham, who are at Derby tomorrow, have won only once away this season - when a Sergei Rebrov goal earned a 1-0 victory at Manchester City earlier this month.

The most startling difference, though, is with Chelsea's form. Claudio Ranieri's side have won 10 home games - including a thumping 6-1 victory over tomorrow's opponents Coventry - and lost only once at Stamford Bridge, to Leicester City.
