Holmes puts buzz into bid

Kelly Holmes today promised Olympic inspectors that London would stage an Olympics in 2012 with more buzz, enthusiasm and atmosphere than any other event in the Games' 109-year history.

As the International Olympic Committee's evaluation commission began their four-day visit to the capital, the double Olympic champion said Britain's passion for sport would help London surpass the magnificent 2000 Games in Sydney.

Those Olympics were heralded as the best ever with packed, fanatical crowds. But after taking part in a presentation to the Commission, Holmes said: "We have a great passion for sport in this country. I think a Games in Britain would override Sydney by 100 per cent. The tickets would be sold out before they were put on sale."

London presented its plans for the games with Holmes, record breaking rower Steve Redgrave, Olympic boxer Amir Khan and former triple jumper Jonathan Edwards all taking part.

The plans feature four "relocatable" venues which would be used in east London for the games and then transported to other parts of the country.
