Holmes catch steels it in Pittsburgh late show

Santonio Holmes' amazing catch with 35 seconds left secured a record sixth Super Bowl win for the Pittsburgh Steelers as they overcame the Arizona Cardinals 27-23 in Tampa, Florida.

Trailing by three points with the clock ticking down, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger threw a six-yard pass towards Holmes in the far corner of the end zone to win the game.

Under pressure from a group of Cardinals defensive players, the wide receiver stretched to haul in the ball and get both feet down on the ground before falling out of bounds for the game-winner.

"I threw it and thought it was going to be picked. Santonio made a heck of a catch," Roethlisberger said.

The touchdown was the climax of an eight-play, 78-yard drive by the Steelers who survived a spirited fightback by the Cardinals. Arizona, led by veteran quarterback Kurt Warner, trailed 20-7 with eight minutes to play only to turn that into a three-point lead.

Holmes, named the game's Most Valuable Player, had four catches for 73 yards on the decisive drive, including a 13-yard reception on third-and-six and a 40-yard catch to Arizona's six, scoring two plays later. "Before that drive, I told him, 'Ben, I want the ball in my hands no matter what, no matter where it is,"' said Holmes,"We're going down in history with one of the greatest games ever played in the Super Bowl."
