Hewitt: I'll avoid burn-out

World No1 Lleyton Hewitt said today that he will cut back his playing schedule to avoid "burning out".

The Wimbledon champion, who is preparing for Australia's Davis Cupmatch against India on Friday, has played in 16 tournaments this year despite suffering from chicken pox at the start of the season.

Hewitt, who turned pro five years ago at the age of 16, said: "I've got to sit down and think about what's right for me. I'll concentrate on Grand Slams and Davis Cup next year. I will probably have a longer career because of that, if I make some smart scheduling moves inside the next few years."

Meanwhile, world No2 Venus Williams emerged unscathed when the car she was a passenger in crashed in Florida.

Williams's spokesperson Julie Kachner said: "I don't believe she was seriously hurt."
