Hero Miller adds to Houllier's woe

Molineux erupted, as it was entitled to do only days after the same player had brought them three points and considerable hope of survival against champions United.

Houllier moaned: 'We had enough chances to have won this game comfortably, but we've wasted them and then they equalised late. That's just what happens.

'I thought it was a controversial decision by the referee to give a corner which was not a corner.'

And Houllier was not too pleased at the frayed nerves of his Liverpool players. He added: 'We should have kept our composure. I'm not saying that Wolves did not put up a battling performance but 4-2 in our favour would have been a fair result.'

Michael Owen, still feeling his way back to fitness and sharpness, missed a couple of opportunities that he would have taken at his peak. Danny Murphy also had one shot excellently saved. Another from him hit the upright in the dying moments of the game.

But Wolves never stopped competing for the ball and remained a menace until the very last moment.

After Cheyrou had delicately volleyed Liverpool ahead, the home side continued to hassle and harass Liverpool and there was always the feeling that they might salvage a point. Wolves manager David Jones said: 'It wasn't all about battling because I felt that we played some good football as well, particularly in the second half, and at times we had Liverpool under pressure for long spells.'

Indeed, Steffen Iversen had two great opportunities in either half but missed both.

Jones added: 'I thought Steffen ran himself into the ground. Liverpool were forewarned that we could be dangerous if we ran up a head of steam and that's what happened-late on. What we have at the moment money simply cannot buy. It's that feelgood factor team spirit, and the fans are contributing by bringing a great atmosphere. The whole place was rocking.

'The important thing, though, is to keep it up. We have a long way to go but I have a very special mood in the dressing room - and when that exists anything can happen.'

Indeed it can and, one suspects, Gerard Houllier would settle for a bit of the same magic.
