Henry warning to Arsenal

Thierry Henry warned his Arsenal team-mates against complacency today as they sit nine points clear at the top of the Premiership.

Arsenal let the title slip to Manchester United last season and Henry said: "Sometimes the team gets complacent, and wakes up only after the criticism. We are our own worst enemies."

Henry reaffirmed his commitment to Arsenal by adding: "When I came to Arsenal no one believed in me anymore. Arsenal and Arsene Wenger held out their hands. Now that everything's going well, I can't turn round and say goodbye.

"The coach is trying to build something. Things are moving forward. I'm part of these plans and I don't want to leave."

Henry scored his 20th league goal this season in Saturday's 2-1 win over Charlton and his form has seen him linked with a move to Real Madrid.

"I will never stop the rumours," he said. "But when you see me on the field you see someone fighting for his team, not someone about to leave. I'm more than happy at Arsenal. Full stop." Henry is considered by many as the world's best striker, but he feels there is still room for improvement.

"Perfection doesn't exist, but the quest for it makes you better," he said. "When I leave the field I think about the chances I missed, not what I achieved."

Meanwhile, the Premier League today claimed their officials are among the best in the world after severe criticism from Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Manchester United boss claimed professional referees are not doing their jobs properly and warned some should be struck off the elite list.

He spoke out after Alan Wiley denied his side a penalty when Louis Saha was felled by Edwin van der Sar during Saturday's 1-1 draw with Fulham.

But the Premier League have taken issue with Ferguson's outburst. A spokesman for the Professional Game Match Officials said: "Our referees are widely held to among the best in the world. Their performances are monitored to ensure this remains the case."
