Henry escapes FA action over 'elbow'

Thierry Henry will not face action from the Football Association over an alleged use of an elbow on Charlton's John Robinson.

The FA video advisory panel asked for a tape of the incident but after reviewing the case the FA have decided to drop the matter without referring it to the panel.

The clash was not seen by referee Steve Dunn during Arsenal's 3-0 win at The Valley on Saturday but Henry had insisted there was no case to answer.

He said: "I did not touch him with my elbow. I'm sure the video tape will show that. All I did was push back with my arm because my shirt was being pulled at the time."

The decision to investigate angered Arsenal as it came when the FA simultaneously announced David Beckham would not face any action for his apparent use of the elbow on Leeds' Lee Bowyer.

A statement on the FA website today said: "The FA have decided that no action will be taken against Thierry Henry. The matter has not been referred to the video advisory panel and the investigation is now closed."

Meanwhile, Dennis Bergkamp has told Arsene Wenger he wants to play in all of Arsenal's away matches in the Champions League.

The Dutchman's European experiences have been curtailed in recent seasons by his fear of flying.

Manager Wenger has often left him out because he feared long car journeys straight after a game are not the ideal way to recover.

But Bergkamp, who scored in last night's 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund at Highbury, has already spoken to Wenger about the issue.

The Gunners play in Eindhoven next week against PSV, a trip easily done by road. Their other away matches will be the return in Germany and against French club Auxerre. Bergkamp said: "I'm always available and I've told that to the manager. Now it's for him to make the choice."

The other game in Arsenal's group between Auxerre and PSV Eindhoven ended 0-0.
