Henderson's reliant Robin can go one better in Victor Chandler

Trainer Nicky Henderson is in ridiculously good form at present, with 12 winners and five seconds from his last 24 runners, and he holds a strong hand in tomorrow's £105,000 feature at Ascot, the Grade 1 Victor Chandler Chase.

Nine top-class runners go to post for the 2m 1f contest and they include dual Queen Mother Champion Chase winner Master Minded, who aims to give Paul Nicholls and owner Clive Smith compensation for Kauto Star's King George VI Chase defeat last weekend.

Master Minded has looked back to his best this season, recording two victories, the latter an eight-length romp over Henderson's Petit Robin last month in the Tingle Creek Chase, run at Cheltenham.

Henderson believes that Petit Robin (2.25pm) prefers a left-handed track but he was runner-up in this race to Twist Magic last year and would appear to be the most likely danger to Master Minded, who is sure to go off at long odds-on. The 9-1 offered by Totesport would appear to represent fair each-way value.

Henderson is also represented by Mad Max, a giant, bold-jumping nine-year-old, who was fourth in the Arkle last year.

Though beaten twice over further in his two runs this season, Mad Max looks massively overpriced at 16s with Coral (he's 10s with Totesport) if he attacks his fences the way he did when he won a Grade 2 novices' chase at Aintree in April.
