Harrison takes Teddington to Oval

Teddington will line up against High Wycombe at The Oval later this month in the final of club cricket's premier knockout tournament.

The west London side booked their place in the final of the £12,000 Evening Standard Challenge Trophy on Sunday 15 September with a comfortable 41-run victory over Stanmore in their delayed semifinal, with captain Tom Harrison leading from the front.

Teddington, Challenge Trophy winners in 1992, 1996 and 1998, scored 231 for eight, with Adam Tarrant top scoring with 72, then restricted their Middlesex rivals to 190 for nine from their 50 overs.

Harrison, the former 30-year-old Derbyshire professional, collected the £250 Man of the Match award from Tournament Director David Willis for his allround-contribution. He scored 27 with the bat, took the first three wickets with his left-arm medium-pacers and held a stunning diving catch in the deep.

"We're delighted to be going back to The Oval but we had to be at our best. Stanmore played really well," said Harrison, who has already led Teddington to a runaway Middlesex League title.

High Wycombe, who clinched the Home Counties League title at the weekend, reached the semi-finals of the National Knockout Cup last year, and Teddington were among their early-round victims, when they were bowled out for 80 on their own track at Bushy Park.
