'If you watch an Old Firm game you are lucky if you see three Scottish players on the pitch.'
Hansen, like most of his compatriots, was deeply unimpressed with Scotland's 2-2 draw in Toftir against the part-time Faroe Islanders.
He said: 'Scotland gave the worst performance I've seen from them. They did well to come back from 2-0 down but the worrying thing is that the Faroes had some great chances to score.
'John Petersen, who scored both goals for them, should have made it 3-0 shortly after the break but the ball bobbled and he fired it over the crossbar.'
Nevertheless, the Scottish Football Association remain adamant they were right to appoint Vogts as Craig Brown's successor in March this year following the Scots' failure to qualify for the World Cup in Japan and South Korea.
SFA chief executive David Taylor insists Vogts will not walk away from his commitment to Scotland in the face of public disquiet following six matches without a win.
He said: 'It's not Berti's style to walk away, just the reverse. There's definitely a bit of the Scottish character in him. When things go wrong he doubles his efforts. He's determined to do well.
'Berti is definitely the right appointment, along with Rainer Bonhof, to reshape Scottish football. He is here for the long term, and he is also here to improve our whole system.'
