Hammers in wait for Kanoute bid

West Ham, who have raised £8.5 million from the sale of Glen Johnson to Chelsea and Trevor Sinclair to Manchester City, could add another £4m if Tottenham confirm their interest in Frederic Kanoute with a definite bid.

It is understood that Spurs, despite the signings of Helder Postiga and Bobby Zamora, remain keen on Kanoute but that nothing will be finalised until both clubs return from their pre-season tours.

The sale of Kanoute, or another of West Ham's remaining high-profile players, such as Joe Cole, would mean the Upton Park club could put the shutters up on further departures.
