Greg: Next two years crucial for Britain's rising star

Greg Rusedski believes that the next two years will be make-or-break time for Andrew Murray.

The 18-year-old Scot has emerged as the next great hope for British tennis following two victories and a narrow defeat at Queen's Club.

But Rusedski, who lost to Radek Stepanek yesterday, said: "I think it might be better to judge him in two years."

Speaking at this week's Art London exhibition in Chelsea where his brother Bill's paintings are on show, the British No2 added: "The ages between 19 and 21 are crucial and the time when he needs to break into the top 100, but it's great he has already got his first wins on the main tour.

"He had a fantastic Davis Cup and I think he is definitely one for the future."

Meanwhile, Rusedski today claimed he was subjected to gamesmanship and poor umpiring when he crashed out of the Stella Artois tournament at Queen's.

He lost to Stepanek in straight sets in the last 16 yesterday and was not only disappointed with his performance but was also involved in a verbal exchange with the Czech on court and criticised him further afterwards, along with experienced American umpire Steve Ullrich. Rusedski said: "Stepanek was taking his time and complaining about all the calls all the time.

"It would have been nice if the umpire had said something rather than me having to, but I know Steve pretty well - he usually just calls the score."
