Greek duo face new probe

Greek sprinters Kostas Kenteris and Katerina Thanou face a criminal investigation over their missed drugs tests and motorbike accident, it emerged today.

State prosecutor Dimitris Papangelopoulos is to look into the circumstances surrounding the controversy as the pair's disciplinary hearing was delayed until Wednesday because of injuries caused by the crash last Friday.

"The State Prosecutor has ordered two prosecutors to officially investigate the incident involving the sprinters Costas Kenteris and Katerina Thanou. They will report the findings to him," said a source. Pressure is growing on the pair to pull out of the Games to save the hosts further embarrassment.

The IOC put off their hearing until Wednesday after the lawyer of the two sprinters appeared at a hearing today and successfully argued that sprinters Kenteris and Thanou should have the right to argue their case in person.
