He said: "Although he's never tried it, I don't see why he won't handle faster ground. And he won on his debut this season; he'll be fit enough. He's just now got to go and prove that he's the really good horse we all think he is."
Nicky Henderson will give Arkle Trophy favourite Finian's Rainbow one more run before the Cheltenham Festival but he has ruled out the Grade 2 Kingmaker Novices' Chase at Warwick on 12 February because it clashes with the Totesport Trophy Hurdle at Newbury.
Finian's Rainbow has won his last two novice chases at Newbury impressively and Henderson, who has lifted the Arkle Trophy three times with Remittance Man, Travado and Tiutchev, is keen to give the eight-year-old a little more experience before heading to the Festival. "He will have another run but it is inconvenient that the Kingmaker falls on the same day as the Totesport Trophy Hurdle.
"Obviously that race doesn't suit because all the owners and jockey will all be at Newbury," said Henderson.
"Finian's Rainbow has done everything right so far, although saying that, he hasn't met anything yet."
Arkle Trophy (Paddy Power odds): 5 Finian's Rainbow, Ghizao, 10 Noble Prince, 14 Medermit, Realt Dubh, 16-1 bar.
