Grand day out for Yeading

Yeading's team of decorators, warehousemen and carpenters will enjoy the biggest pay-day of their footballing lives on Sunday when they pick up £1,000 each for appearing in the FA Cup third round against Newcastle United.

Although the money is a fraction of what Newcastle's squad of millionaire-stars are paid, the nonleague-club have agreed to reward their players regardless of the result at Loftus Road.

Yeading hope to net around £250,000 from their FA Cup run and while no win bonus has been agreed, the club's players can expect a further payment if they emerge victorious or secure a replay at St James' Park.

Their average wage is just £60 a week and the £1,000 bonus will be the equivalent of half a year's salary.

Yeading, who have reached the FA Cup third round for the first time in the club's history, have so far accumulated £61,000 in prize money.

The BBC's live television coverage and highlights package guarantees Yeading another £168,000, and will receive a further £9,000 if Radio Five Live decide to broadcast the game.
