Arsenal
If there was an award for 'choke of the weekend', Arsenal will have lifted that accolade aloft a lot during the past fortnight. After losing to Birmingham in the Carling Cup final, to Barcelona in the Champions League, Arsene Wenger's side were then defeated by Manchester United 2-0 at Old Trafford in the FA Cup. Whatever Wenger says, his side's season is in danger of disintegrating.

Andrew Strauss
After losing to Bangladesh in the World Cup, England now have to prevail against West Indies on Thursday to stay in the competition - and their preparations aren't helped by speculation that Andrew Strauss may quit as one-day skipper.

The ECB's managing director, Hugh Morris, has played down the rumours. Speaking to BBC Five Live Sportsweek, Morris said: "What I can say, categorically, is Andrew and I have not had that conversation. I know how competitive Andrew is and he's done a magnificent job. I know how well he wants to do at the World Cup. At the end of each winter series we have a robust debrief and Andrew will be involved, but at this stage we've had no discussions."

France rugby
France head coach Marc Lievremont has condemned his players following their surprise 22-21 defeat in Italy on Saturday. "The players are lacking courage," said Lievremont. "Some of the players maybe wore the France jersey for the last time."

Andy Murray
Murray suffered a dispiriting Masters Series defeat in Indian Wells on Saturday, losing 7-6, 6-3 to World No 143 Donald Young. "I didn't move particularly well," the Scot said after his loss to the American. "He hit a lot of winners."

Rio Ferdinand
The Manchester United defender is likely to miss out on playing for England during their Euro 2012 qualifier with Wales next week.

The 32-year-old is sidelined with a calf injury picked up ahead of United's loss at Wolves last month.

Manager Sir Alex Ferguson said: "He will be ready for the game after the internationals. I wouldn't have thought he would have a chance before that. I don't think it would be wise for him to be called up."
