Good week, bad week

We round up who had a wonderful weekend of sport, and those who had an awful one.

GOOD WEEK

Shane Watson
The Australian opener's superb century helped his side to a six-wicket victory over England in the first one-day international in Melbourne. England batted first and managed 294 before Watson's 161, which included 12 fours and four sixes, guided his side safely to the target.

Asamoah Gyan
Gyan was the hero for Sunderland as the Black Cats clinched a commendable draw with Newcastle. The Magpies led through Kevin Nolan's 10th league goal of the campaign, before Gyan equalised when goalkeeper Steve Harper's save from a Phil Bardsley shot struck him and rebounded in.

Peter Odemwingie
The West Brom striker returned to scoring form as his double helped the Baggies down Blackpool 3-2. He slotted home from 10 yards to equalise David Vaughan's effort for the Tangerines, before West Brom's James Morrison tapped in after the break. Blackpool's Gary Taylor-Fletcher seemed to earn his side point with a back-post shot with 10 minutes to go. Not so. In the 87th minute, Odemwingie scored the winner with a volley as West Brom ended their poor run of five consecutive league defeats. "It was a rollercoaster of emotions," reflected Roberto di Matteo, West Brom's manager. "And it wasn't our best game of the season, but we're pleased to get three points."

Andy Johnson
The Fulham forward returned to form on Saturday having been blighted by a knee injury for many months. Johnson returned to the field of play against Wigan knowing that he hadn't scored a top-flight goal since 14 March 2009. And with his side 1-0 down, what a perfect time to end that run. The 29-year-old's right-foot shot nestled in the back of Ali Al-Habsi's net in the 86th minute to earn his team a draw.

BAD WEEK

Avram Grant
Demolished 3-0 by Arsenal at the weekend, West Ham's manager looks doomed. Yet Grant was in combative mood after the match. Asked if he was about to be sacked, Grant said: "Why do you ask me this question? You need to ask the person who gave you the rumours. Ask the source." His departure appears to be delayed, but surely Grant's dismissal is inevitable.

Munster
Jonny Wilkinson kicked 22 points for Toulon as they outmuscled Munster 32-16, thus knocking the Irish province out of the Heineken Cup. In losing, Munster failed to reach the quarter-final stage of the competition for the first time in 13 years.
