Good week, bad week

We round up who had a great weekend of sport, and those who were burying their heads in the sand.

Good Week

Everton supporters
Evertonians who attended their team's thrilling 3-3 draw with Manchester United will have been delighted.
Staring defeat in the face, David Moyes' side called on all their reserves of energy they hit back from 3-1 down, netting two goals in injury time to level the score.
Colloquially called Fergie time', the additional minutes brought Everton fans party time.

Arsene Wenger
Arsenal's fast and fluid approach over the years paid off on Saturday. The record books told us so.
When Alexander Song scored his side's third during the Gunners' 4-1 triumph over Bolton, it brought up 1000 goals under Wenger's guidance.
Despite failing to win a trophy in five years, the Frenchman's name will be indelible in the club's history books when he eventually departs.

Moussa Dembele
The forward has been a refreshing addition to the Fulham squad, and he certainly gave Wolves a wearisome Saturday afternoon.
After the 23-year-old toe-poked home the hosts' equaliser, Dembele then guided his free-kick past Marcus Hahnemann to earn Fulham a valuable win.

Blackpool
Can no one can burst the ebullient Blackpool bubble?
The Tangerines have won two of their first four games and are currently fourth in the table, after their manager Ian Holloway saw them prevail away at Newcastle.
And not only did the two-goal gale that blew the Magpies aside increase their goal difference, their manager decided to increase the length of the dictionary too.
"I might make my own up – phantasmagorical," announced Holloway, who chose that word' to describe his emotions after his team's remarkable win.

Chelsea
The champions have been a joy to watch during the opening weeks on the season. And after their 3-1 win over West Ham, it's worth noting some of their surreal statistics.
Carlo Ancelotti's team have scored 17 goals, more than any other side this season. And until Scott Parker launched his lob into their far corner, Chelsea had gone 671 minutes without conceding in the league.
Their football model is a paragon of how to defend and attack. And during a period in which certain players have sullied their profiles, at least Chelsea are leading by example.

Bad Week

Wayne Rooney
Rooney's absence at Goodison Park gave a stirring indication that his personal issues are affecting his professional life. A problem for Manchester United and England.
And whether the Red Devils did drop two points because they didn't have Rooney to call on is subjective, but he certainly needs to play and perform against Rangers this week to ward off any harrowing headlines.
