Gloucester capitalise on Bath collapse

Bath coach Jon Callard struggled to explain his side's startling second-half collapse which resulted in a 24-18 defeat against West Country rivals Gloucester.

They had led 18-7 before conceding 17 unanswered points and to make matters worse for Ben Clarke and company, Gloucester recorded their first victory on Bath soil since 1971 despite resting international trio Jason Little, Ian Jones and Kingsley Jones. 'I was disappointed with the attitude, the missed tackles, an ability to keep possession in contact - these are all fundamental things,' said Callard.

'The players haven't done themselves justice and they know that.' Gloucester's assistant coach John Brain always had faith in his side's chances, saying: 'People were asking questions about our team selection but we've got a very strong squad and always believed this team could beat Bath.' Byron Hayward, Mark Cornwell and Tom Beim all claimed tries in Gloucester's fightback. They can now look forward to packing out Kingsholm for next Saturday's fifth-round visit of Premiership champions Leicester.
