Eriksson had planned to try out the combination in last month's friendly against Ukraine but Bridge was forced to pull out through injury.
The pair last teamed up on the left for England almost two years ago against Macedonia but since then Bridge's England chances have been limited.
Bridge said today: "I think it would work. I played there in my early days at Southampton and I think I could adapt."
Eriksson must also find a replacement for Gerrard if, as expected, he is ruled out.
He could move David Beckham into the centre of midfield and play Shaun-Wright Phillips on the right or, more likely, draft Owen Hargreaves into the centre of the midfield and leave the England captain on the right. Eriksson said: "I do believe that Owen Hargreaves' best position is in the centre of midfield but Shaun Wright-Phillips is ready, as are the other players."
The England coach meanwhile, does not believe his future could depend on the outcome of these next two matches.
Eriksson survived a summer of allegations about his private but the feeling now is that he needs four points from the first two World Cup qualifying games to prevent pressure building again.
Today however, he said: "Does my destiny lie with Austria and Poland? I never thought about that.
"I don't feel my job is on the line. If people think that then that is up to them. I believe we are almost there. We have won through to the quarter-finals of the two main competitions and the difference between winning and losing is almost nothing."
England (probable): James, G Neville, A Cole, Terry, King, Beckham (cpt), Lampard, Hargreaves, Bridge, Smith, Owen.
