GB hockey look to take chance

Danny Hall today warned his Great Britain hockey team-mates that wasted chances could cost them a medal opportunity here.

After one win and one loss Britain go into tonight's pool match against Spain knowing that a win is vital to keeping their hopes of a play-off place alive.

Goals went begging in a 3-2 defeat against Korea earlier this week and Hall, who scored in that game, said: "if we perform we can beat anybody. But we need to show more consistency. We are not a team that goes gung ho and gets 25 chances. We carve out four or five chances and just hope they go in. Against Korea a couple did, but a couple did not."

Coach Jason Lee refused to write off Britain's chances even though his side came to Greece as outsiders. "Its the old cliche," he said. "The war is still there to be won. We didn't come here expecting to win every game. But we will work hard against Spain and the result will come if we do things right."
