Carl Froch: George Groves got under my skin... but it will not happen again

By the time you guys are reading this on the Tube or the bus, the final press conference for George and I should be winding up at Wembley.

By the side of the pitch when we were posing for photos, George was slurping in my earhole and acting like a child.

He was saying nasty things and trying to wind me up. I felt some of his saliva go inside my ear which is not particularly nice. It’s unhygienic, so I just made some room. That’s it. I wasn’t wound up and I wasn’t angry, I wasn’t going to put a shot into him or do anything to bring the sport into disrepute because I’m not about that. I just made some space and I think he got the message.

I was probably thinking about him too much in the build-up to the first fight and that’s part of his game plan — to get under my skin and wind me up.

It was effective and it worked but it will not happen twice, no chance. I might have been stupid for the first one but I’m not double stupid.

I can think about George, I cannot think about him. I can listen to him, I cannot listen to him. It’s in one ear and out the other. Maybe that’s a bit of psychology coming out but I’m honestly not interested.
