Freddie injury fear

Arsenal's European hopes have been dealt a blow through an injury to Freddie Ljungberg.

The midfielder hurt his back during the 3-0 win at Fulham on Saturday and is a major doubt for the opening Champions League game against PSV Eindhoven at Highbury tomorrow night.

Ljungberg was a probable starter for manager Arsene Wenger.

The Swede has made an impressive start to the season and scored the opening goal at Craven Cottage where Arsenal maintained their 100 per cent record with their fifth win of the Premiership campaign.

Wenger will give Ljungberg a final fitness test this evening but his chances of playing against the Dutch club are looking increasingly remote.

In his place, Wenger is set to turn to Jose Antonio Reyes on one flank with Robert Pires filling the other wide berth in midfield.

The Arsenal manager does have the option of drafting in 17-year-old sensation Francesc Fabregas. However, the Spaniard's preferred position is in central midfield and Wenger is more likely to use the more experienced Gilberto Silva and Patrick Vieira in that role.

Meanwhile, PSV Eindhoven manager Guus Hiddink will stress to his players the need to keep Arsenal at bay for the first 30 minutes of the Champions League clash.

The plan is to frustrate Wenger's team and prevent them from putting the match beyond the reach of PSV early on.

Hiddink has based his strategy on the report from his No2 Rene Eykelkamp who watched Arsenal win at Fulham.
