Forssell: I want to stay with Jose

Mikael Forssell is determined to make his mark with Jose Mourinho.

The Finnish striker is back at Chelsea after a serious knee injury forced Birmingham to cut short his loan spell with the club.

They would still like to sign him permanently next season but Forssell says he wants to play his part in the exciting times unfolding at Stamford Bridge.

Although Chelsea have quality attackers, they lack a goal poacher. Forssell has that talent and if he could score 17 Premiership goals whilst on loan at an average Birmingham side last year, he would surely plunder many more with Arjen Robben, Frank Lampard and Damien Duff in support.

Forssell said: "I still have two years left on my contract and would love to stay at Chelsea. The manager has been really good towards me and given me a lot of confidence. He wouldn't have put me on the bench if he didn't think I was ready for it.

"It was only four minutes [against Bayern Munich in the Champions League] but it was great to be back. The manager asked me if I was ready to play and I was happy to step up to the bench. I always hoped I could play for Chelsea again this season but it was nothing more than a dream.

"No one really believed in me but obviously I did and this is a great step forward. It doesn't mean that I'm fantastically fit yet but I'm getting there."

Forssell's level-headed character also suggests he could be a Mourinho man, with the 24-year-old possessing great maturity for his age. He added: "It's been a very hard season, more mentally than physically. I love football a lot and not being able to do what I love has been horrible. It was really difficult to come and watch Chelsea play.
