The track is hosting a double-header of back-to-back race weekends starting with the British Grand Prix on August 2 and then a 70th Anniversary Grand Prix seven days later.

There are concerns over diehard fans converging on the venue for one of the best supported races of the season – 140,000 fans attended race day last year - with measures being put in place by track bosses in conjunction with the police.

Championship leader Lewis Hamilton, bidding for a record seventh British Grand Prix victory, has called on Formula One and his fellow drivers for a greater stand against racism after a rushed moment ahead of Sunday’s Hungarian Grand Prix where some drivers knelt, some stood and others were absent pre-race.

Formula One bosses said nothing specific was planned but that it would “continue to ensure the drivers can continue to show their support for this important issue”.
