Furious Tottenham demand answers from WSL Football after GK Barry joke in League Cup draw

Tottenham have demanded answers from WSL Football after a bizarre draw for the Women's League Cup resulted in the club receiving an apology.

The draw for the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the competition was streamed live on WSL Football's TikTok page on Tuesday night and hosted by influencer GK Barry and her partner Ella Rutherford, who plays for Portsmouth.

After Tottenham's ball was pulled out, Barry said: "What do we think of Tottenham?" - the start of a common anti-Spurs chant.

WSL Football have apologised to Spurs and made it clear the comment was inappropriate.

Standard Sport understands Spurs are furious at the incident and club officials have met to discuss it.

Spurs have asked to be given footage of the draw and were told that would be made available to them, but the club had not received it as of Wednesday morning.

There is significant anger from Spurs at Barry's comment and they are considering their response. While the club do not have any issues with the outcome of the draw, there are still concerns over the integrity of it after a chaotic process which Spurs believe needs highlighting.

Barry made several innuendos throughout and pulled one ball out of the bag, put it back in, and then pulled it out for a second time.

It is understood that an adjudicator provided by WSL Football was present and confirmed the same ball had been pulled out of the bag.

Had that not been the case, the draw would have been restarted.

There is no official replay of the draw available to watch on WSL Football's social media channels but clips have been circulating online.

The decision to have the draw on TikTok and use Barry and Rutherford as hosts was due to a desire to appeal to a younger audience. Several briefings and rehearsals took place ahead of the draw as preparation.

Spurs will face Manchester United in the quarter-finals of the competition, with the winner of that taking on either Crystal Palace or Arsenal in the semi-finals.

On the other side of the draw, Liverpool host Chelsea and Manchester City travel to West Ham.
