Standard Sport assesses the individual performances from Chelsea's League Cup semi-final first leg clash with Liverpool and Anfield.

A superb solo effort from Raheem Sterling solo goal ensured that this semi-final would remain on knife-edge going into next week's second leg at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea took the lead in the first half when the wizardry of Eden Hazard tied Emre Can in knots, and the makeshift centre-half's challenge saw Martin Atkinson point to the spot.

The Belgian international stepped up and, unlike his compatriot at Goodison Park on Monday, tucked the home from 12 yards.

As the game ebbed and flowed it seemed that once again Jose Mourinho had masterminded victory at Anfield, before a sublime effort from Sterling brought Liverpool level.
