Crystal Palace have invited their former defender Pape Souare to train with them as he bids to find a new club.

Souare, who has fought a long fitness battle since suffering serious injuries in a car crash in 2016, left Palace when his contract expired in 2019 to join French side Troyes.

The left-back is now without a club again and Palace have invited him to training as he bids to find a new team and resurrect his career.

Souare’s car accident forced him to miss a year of football and he struggled to get back into the Palace team.

The club, however, are keen to help him find a new club now and he is training with their youth team.

“Souare has been training at the Academy since the start of pre-season, which has helped him maintain fitness,” Crystal Palace said in a statement.

“We’re supporting the defender in his attempts to find a new playing opportunity.

“It has been a mutually beneficial arrangement, as Souare’s presence has provided an extremely positive experience for the club’s younger players.”
