Neil Warnock pays tribute to 'immense' defensive duo

Queens Park Rangers manager Neil Warnock hailed defensive pair Danny Shittu and Fitz Hall after last night's 2-0 win at home over Ipswich.

Shittu, who left Loftus Road in 2006, was making his first appearance for QPR since his return in January.

Much has been made of Rangers' attacking flair this season but Warnock was delighted with his new defensive pairing after goals from Clint Hill and Heidar Helguson won the game for his side. "I have to praise the two centre halves, they've not played in months but I thought they were absolutely immense," he said.

"They both played well together in the reserves, they complement each other, so I thought why not play the pair of them?

"We have such a good squad, it's great to change it and still keep a clean sheet.

"We were under the cosh for the first 15 minutes but I am pleased to say they didn't really have a shot on target."
