Manchester United transfer news: Bebe keen to join Benfica

Bebe, the 24-year-old who has flopped so spectacularly at Old Trafford, has returned to pre-season training at Manchester United but admitted he would be happy to join Benfica.

The Portuguese forward, who United reportedly chose over Colombian sensation James Rodriguez, spent last season on loan at Pacos de Ferreira, and scored 12 goals in 27 appearances to help the Portuguese minnows avoid relegation

That form has apparently piqued Benfica’s interest, who are looking to bolster their attacking options with Lazar Markovic set to join Liverpool.

Bebe says he would be keen for a move to the Estadio da Luz. "I think it would be a good opportunity for me," he told Antena 1.

"For now I will wait for my agent to resolve it. He will certainly know better than I do whether it's true or not.

"Of course it would be a great opportunity for me. Maybe I could play more and they could rely on me more. I think it would be a unique opportunity."
