“Hopefully we can do that again but we know Hull are going to be tough as they’re having a great season.
“It’s a huge game, especially with Arsenal coming up at the weekend where no one expects us to get anything. The League is split in two now and everyone up to Hull still has a chance of being relegated so it’s important that we keep picking up points.”
Sidelined for much of the autumn because of an ankle injury, Williams is the latest talent to emerge from the Selhurst Park production line and his ability has been compared to Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey at the same age by his former Wales Under-21 coach Bryan Flynn.
The youngster signed a five-year contract in May 2012 but such is the high regard he is held in that the new deal ties him down until 2018.
He said: “It was something that I wanted to get sorted earlier in the season but then I got injured and we had to wait a bit. Luckily we were able to get it signed and I’m happy everything is done now.
“I haven’t been told if there was anyone else looking at me — I’ve just read the things that everyone else reads.
“It's always nice to hear other clubs are interested in you but I wasn’t looking to leave Palace. They have been great for my career so far and now hopefully we can stay in the league.”
Regardless of what happens tonight, it looks like being a busy few days for Pulis and Palace’s co-chairman Steve Parish ahead of transfer deadline day. Former Liverpool midfielder Momo Sissoko, 29, is still in contention to earn a contract having trained with the squad last week, although it is understood Palace will only sanction a short-term deal.
But, like most Eagles fans, Williams admits that he will be an interested spectator for the big denouement on Friday night.
“We haven’t got a game on Saturday so I might stay up a bit later,” he said.
“It will be really exciting to watch because you never what’s going to happen. Last time we signed quite a few players on the final day so we’ll have to wait and see.
“I don’t think there will be that many changes but it’s up to the manager — one or two new faces might freshen up the squad a little bit but if that doesn’t happen, we’ve just got to keep doing what we’re doing.”
