John Terry trial date upsets Mark Hughes

Mark Hughes leads QPR into their fight against relegation spurred by the injustice of a trial date for John Terry that suits the Chelsea and the defender in mid-Summer - rather than Rangers central defender Anton Ferdinand who should be in the middle of pre-season training.

Terry, accused of racial abuse against Ferdinand back in October, had his trial date put back to July 9 this week which will suit him as he will be having a break after the European championships. Yet the man who is the alleged victim, Ferdinand, will be in the middle of pre-season build-up for QPR.

Hughes rapped: "This is going to impact on his preparations for a new season. If John goes to the Euros, it impacts on his holiday - not on his pre-season because he'll get a rest after the Euros.

"It's just in his down-time - it's not in Anton's down-time.

"Anton is obviously involved with the case and they have been given a date that is slap bang in the middle of our pre-season, from Anton's point of view. Ideally, I want my players available.

"I think everybody believes this has been dragging on forever. Certainly Anton would have preferred it to have been done and dusted by now. I think everybody would. We'd have liked to have had a chance to put our point across."

Meanwhile, Hughes sends his new £10million strike force of Djibril Cisse and Bobby Zamora out at home against struggling Wolves tomorrow, fancying he can continue putting clear water between QPR and the lowly clubs around them.

After seeing off Wigan in their last home game and Cisse scoring on his debut in the 2-2 draw at Aston Villa, Hughes said: "I've always admired Djibril from afar but never realised what a great goals to games ratio he has in his career in the top flight.
